1919
Carl Kaeser senior founds the company in Coburg as an engineering workshop on 27th June 1919. Prime activities include the production of vehicle engine parts, particularly gears, and special machines for the local glass industry. The enterprise prospers and the workforce grows to 150 in a few years.
1948
The division of Germany after the second world war places most of KAESER's regular customers out of reach and reorientation is needed towards new markets in the south and west of the country. The experience gained in engines serves well for the related technology of air compressors, and so the decision is made to enter this field in which there is a healthy and growing market with an obvious future. The first reciprocating compressor developed by KAESER is completed in 1948, and is soon followed by a complete range of this type of compressor.
1973
Carl Kaeser junior, son of the founder, takes the initiative for the next strategic move, which is to develop a rotary screw compressor, at the heart of which is an airend featuring rotors with a new, energy-efficient profile. Production of a range of air compressors with this KAESER-developed SIGMA PROFILE airend begins in 1973 and leads to overwhelming market success, opening the way for KAESER KOMPRESSOREN to establish a position among the world leaders in rotary screw compressor manufacturing.
1978
Establishing the first subsidiary in Switzerland marks the beginning of the build-up of KAESER's international sales and service organisation.
1982
On taking over the French compressor manufacturer "Compresseurs Bernard" KAESER develops "Mobilair", a range of portable screw compressors for the construction industry. This highly successful product range is still made in Lyon.
1991
One of Germany's oldest compressor makers, "Gera Kompressorenwerke", is taken over by KAESER in 1991 and, after extensive modernisation, begins producing the newly developed OMEGA rotary blowers in 1993.
1994
With the development of "SECOTEC®", KAESER launches a completely new program of energy-saving refrigeration dryers and Germany's most modern manufacturing facility is installed in Gera for their production in 1994.
1998
This year saw the launch of KAESER's revolutionary compressor controller SIGMA CONTROL. The controller, based on an industrial computer, is incorporated into KAESER screw compressors, reducing their overall lifetime costs and further improving utilisation. |
