Space is always at a premium onboard ship. To meet the unique needs of marine applications, Kaeser offers the DSD marine series of compact (less than one meter in width and with a footprint of around 2.75 m²) and powerful rotary screw compressors that boast unprecedented ease of access for servicing. Furthermore, they are certified in accordance with the requirements of all marine certification bodies.
Maximum reliability and energy efficiency combined with low power consumption and minimal maintenance requirement (thanks to further improved SIGMA airends and IE4 motors) come as standard, together with superior availability and long service life. The Sigma Control 2 internal compressor controller (also marine certified) boasts 30 selectable languages for ease of use throughout the world. This state-of-the-art controller provides energy-efficient compressor operation whilst also taking into account the inlet and compressor temperature in order to prevent condensate formation in the fluid circuit, even despite fluctuating inlet air humidity – thanks to electronic thermal management (ETM) fluid temperature control. The highly effective cooling system and integrated Kaeser axial centrifugal separator with the energy-saving Eco-Drain condensate drain ensure a steady supply of cool, condensate-free compressed air – and the system can also support optional cooling with sea water or air.
Kaeser Kompressoren additionally offers a full range of marine products, including starting air compressors and specially designed screw and rotary blowers, such as those required for supplying oxygen to the wastewater treatment plants on large cruise ships. Rotary blowers are also key components of anti-heeling systems, which ensure stable trim during loading and unloading.
